Vinny may not be a cuddler quite yet, but he sure has our hearts. Last February, he appeared at a Milo property, famished and with ice chunks actually hanging from his coat. Thank goodness a Good Samaritan brought him to Whiskers for help. He needed to have one of his eyes removed due to damage and infection, and most of his teeth pulled. “Poor Vinny,” a vet tech wrote in her
report. Although the worst was over, it was a long road to recovery. “He was so stressed out,” says his foster mom. “Because of his stress, he was overgrooming and had severe hair loss.” But then, everything changed when Vinny made a friend: Claude, who came into foster care after his owner passed away. While Vinny recuperated within the safety of a large dog kennel with all
sorts of homey touches, Claude began to spend more and more time near him. “They would get as close to each other as possible with only the kennel slats separating them. Once we opened the kennel door, Vinny stayed put but Claude went right in and snuggled up in a bed with him. The purrs of these two were so loud.” It’s our hope that this duo could stay together, although
separate adoptions may be considered if they’re able to bond with other pets in the home. While Claude will let anyone pet him who has spent much time with him, Vinny’s potential is still be discovered. But one thing is certain: Both deserve a happy ending, and their unique bond is enough to bring joy to the people around them. “They were so happy to be together at last,” their foster mom remembers. “Happy tears were certainly spilled by those of us who had the privilege to witness this event.” Are you the person who’ll shed happy tears seeing them in a forever home at last?
