One fateful night, one of our volunteers was working at a neighbor’s property when he heard a kitten crying. Three kittens exactly, who were with this beautiful (but then very scared) mama now known as Ellie Mae. She’d come from another property in the area, left alone when her caretaker passed away. “She was so skinny and it looked like she had been eating cockroaches just to keep her and her kittens alive,” recalls her foster dad. Whiskers volunteers managed to trap Ellie Mae and her babies that night, instantly changing the trajectory of their lives. Today she is a “sweet but cautious girl that will soak up attention once she gets to know you.” We think she would thrive in a quieter home, especially if she had a feline friend to snuggle with.
