Clem

Hi! My Name Is Clem

We're happy to tell you that Clem has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available Cats Page to see the cats currently available.

Clem is a fluffy, orange, adorable kitten with a long road ahead of him. And it’s one he’ll be navigating with only two legs and no tail.  We’ve found a way to make his journey easier, though, and we’d be grateful to have your help. At just over four months old, Clem was a playful barn kitten until Iowa’s brutal winter stopped him, quite literally, in his tracks: He was found nearly frozen to death.  He’ll survive, but frostbite made it necessary for a veterinarian to amputate a front leg, a portion of one back leg, one toe on his remaining front foot, and his tail. It is possible that he might still lose some additional toes. Our hearts are broken for him, but we know that he’s a fighter, that his life still has value.

As a kitten, it’s very possible that he could adapt well, and we’re committed to caring for him and loving him as he does. One part of that will be an adaptive device called “Walkin’ Wheels Wheelchair for Cats.” Not only will this help with Clem’s mobility, but his strength and morale. (We can’t imagine a Clem who can’t ever run and play again, or stroll along to see what his humans are up to!) Any donation would go toward this second chance for Clem. It would defray the cost of his wheelchair, the $700 in vet bills already accumulated, and the future expenses of additional surgery, physical therapy and his general care. Clem deserved a kittenhood full of mischief and affection, and a future without these obstacles. We can’t undo nature’s wrath on his little body, but we’re committed to doing what we can to make him mobile and happy again.  Any donation, any share of this page, makes you one of the humans fighting on Clem’s behalf. Thank you.
